Newspaper Hunt: Youth Group Games

Quick Overview:

This is a great game to get everyone involved. All you have to do is pick up a bunch of penny-saver newspapers and find some obscure article and your set. Not much set-up but a bunch of fun when it gets going!

Supplies You’ll Need:

1. Newspapers.  You will want enough newspapers for each group you are going to split up into plus one additional paper. We split up into our small groups and had it be a game for small groups to compete against each other.

Prep:

We set each group up at a round table to allow them to spread out the newspapers and work together. You can easily do this on the floor but you will want a designated spot for each group to search through the paper.

Game Play:

The game is simple but can get really intense.

Each group is to receive the exact same newspaper (We have a free local newspaper that I got a bunch of for this event). You keep one newspaper for yourself so you can pick out the articles/names/titles you want to use for the game.

Pick out article names, persons names, titles or random parts of the newspaper. You will want to pick out as many of these as you want rounds.

The game is simple. You will call out whatever it is you want them to find within the paper.

Each group must then search through all the pages of the newspaper to find the exact name and location that you have read from. They then must run that part of the paper to you.

The first team to run you that piece of the paper is the winner.

Make sure you do not go super easy on them. Make it difficult by looking in the wanted ads or sales. The print is super small and there is a ton of it on each page.

Also mix it up by standing at different spots within the room so they must find the part of the newspaper and then find you. It creates some great fun! Hope you love this game as much as we do!
