Quick Overview:
Blindfolded students compete to try and identify extra (and usually gross) ingredients in their bowl of milk and cereal. Whichever team can identify the most mystery ingredients wins!
Supplies You’ll Need:
1. Blindfolds. We made ours out of snowboarding goggles. I bought some cheap at Walmart and then spray painted the inside black. We live in Buffalo, NY so I’m assuming snowboarding goggles might not be at everyone’s Walmart so just buy them online.
2. Spin That Wheel on SimplyYouthMinistry.com. I found this “prize wheel” software a few years ago and have been using it ever since. It’s $25 and you can download it here.
3. Cereal and Extra Ingredients. This game works best with a variety of cereal and a variety of gross extras. We bought the variety packs of mini cereal boxes and then just walked around looking for sauces, condiments, and anything else that sounded weird on cereal.
Prep:
Everything goes smoother when you pour the bowls of cereal out ahead of time as well as opening all the sauces and condiments beforehand so you don’t waste time trying to break the plastic seals in front of everyone. So have everything up front and ready to go. Also, you’re going to need to load all of the extras on the wheel of the “Spin That Wheel” software.
Game Play:
We played this game girls vs guys. 2 girls and 2 guys came up at a time and we blindfolded them. Chef Andy (a volunteer of ours that plays a recurring chef character for us when we play games with food) put a bowl of the same cereal in front of each of the 4 players – they cannot see what it is but everyone in the crowd does. We then spin the wheel for each student to see what extra ingredient is added to the cereal. Students then get to taste what’s in their bowl and try to identify both the cereal and the extra ingredient. If they can name both, they receive 3 pts. If they can only name one or the other they receive 1 pt. We play as many rounds as we have time for bringing up new contestants every round and whichever gender has the most points wins!
